The 7th Annual Sevenoaks Rotary Knole Park 10k Run on 17th March 2013 in aid of the Disabled, Homeless & Disadvantaged and Rotary Supported Charities is promising to be yet another success.
The first 10Km Marathon Run in Knole Park was organised by the Rotary Club of Sevenoaks in March 2007. Its success in drawing athletes and social runners from all over Britain has allowed it to become an annual event. In March 2012, over 800 runners ran the ten kilometres and the event raised more than £10,000 for charity: Cancer Research UK; providing access to water for orphans in South Africa; as well as other UK charities. Our main sponsors were Knocker & Foskett, Up & Running, Ibbett Moseley and the Hardware Centre who provided field transport and manpower.
Runners who wish to support their own charities via friends` sponsorship are welcome to do so.
Knocker & Foskett, Ibbett Moseley, and Up & Running Sevenoaks are again the main sponsors. The grounds of Knole Park are used by kind permission of Lord Sackville and the National Trust.
After the success of the last 2 years, the 10k Run will again use computer based Chip timing to record runners' times and calculate their positions.
This year the Fun Run will take place in an earlier timeslot along the main race track. Last year we had over 60 entries. This time we hope to exceed the previous record number. Families can be assured of a warm welcome. Minimum age 9 years on the day.
A number of strong teams from local and more distant Athletic Clubs will be competing for the Team Prizes.
There will be special medals for all runners who finish and prizes for the first 3 Men and Ladies Individuals and Teams, plus the first 3 in the 1.5K Fun Run. Bananas will again be provided by the generosity of Dole bananas.
Spectators are encouraged to come along to watch and support from the many viewing points.
The Organisers are hoping for good weather again, following the excellent Spring day we enjoyed last year.
