Stag Theatre Voted 4th Best Comedy Venue in UK – The Guardian
The Stag Community Arts Centre in Sevenoaks has been voted 4th best comedy venue in the UK by The Guardian newspaper. Considering there have been just five stand up comedy events at The Stag since it opened, this is an incredible achievement.
Maff Brown who owns Outside The Box comedy club in Kingston Upon Thames and is the resident comedy host at The Stag said: "We are delighted to have scored so highly considering the number of great comedy clubs there are in this country. The talent on the Stag stage has been mouthwatering since we launched in March. Guests have included Omid Djalili, Lee Mack, Rufus Hound, Adam Bloom, Rob Deering, Ricky Grover, Russell Howard, Sarah Millican and the list goes on. To have such a line up of talent queuing up to perform in Sevenoaks is brilliant. “
“On 13th August Andy Parsons will be appearing with a special celebrity guest. In September Sean Lock will be topping the bill. The comedians love the intimate and friendly atmosphere of The Stag Theatre and the ‘posh’ Sevenoaks audiences who give as good as they get. It's unbelievable value at just £12.50, and the beer's not bad either!" Said Maff.
Speaking about the award, Linda Larter, Chief Executive of The Stag Community Arts Centre said: “Maff’s choice of comedians has been a big hit with the audiences and people are travelling from far and wide to come to the monthly comedy nights. Many are newcomers to the venue and word is spreading. I am delighted that the club has been established so quickly which is great for The Stag and local businesses in the town.”
There are only a few tickets remaining for the 13th August event. Telephone the Box Office to book Tel: 01732 450175.
