Proposed closure of New Ash Green's Budgens store
Sevenoaks District Council has learned of the proposed closure of Budgens supermarket in New Ash Green and is aware that the local community is concerned about the impact.

Budgens currently lease the site from the Co-op. Sevenoaks District Council is in contact with the Co-op's representatives and has already met with them and conveyed local residents' concerns about the closure and how it could affect the community, especially older or more vulnerable residents and those who do not have access to a car. Take strides towards a healthy New Year!
Sevenoaks residents who want to get fitter and healthier during 2008 can stick to any New Year's resolutions they make when a free weekly health walk starts in the town next month.

The new Sevenoaks Town health walk launches on Thursday 17 January 2008 at 10.30am at Sevenoaks Leisure Centre, with the beautiful scenery of Knole Park providing the backdrop for the walk.

Everyone who turns up for the inaugural walk will be given a free stepometer so they can work out how many steps they take. Just 45 minutes of walking is enough time to take about 3,700 steps and burn off approximately 160 to 200 calories!

The walks are suitable for any age or ability, as well as people in wheelchairs or with pushchairs, and last around 45 minutes. [more]

Ghostt get SNAP into the Christmas spirit!
Young clubbers can get that festive feeling this month, as advance tickets are now available for this year's Christmas SNAP night.

Stars of ITV's X-Factor - Ghostt - will be headlining the event at Sevenoaks Community Centre, Cramptons Road on Saturday 15 December and tickets are selling fast!

The event runs from 7pm to 10pm, with Sevenoaks based grime/hip-hop artists Street Vetirans also appearing on stage along with SNAP regular DJ Ignition who will be firing up the crowd for the Christmas holidays with all the best dance, chart and party tunes.

Tickets are on sale now from Sevenoaks Leisure Centre for £5 each and clubbers are advised to buy them early to avoid disappointment. Any remaining tickets will be available on the door . [more]

An elderly woman has died after being hit by a car in Dunton Green.

South East Coast Ambulance Service were called to the incident in London Road on Friday at 7.40pm. [more]

Lucie trust launches safety fob
The father of British bar hostess Lucie Blackman murdered in Japan is to launch a "silent scream" text message device.

When pressed, the small BuddySafe key fob silently triggers the user's mobile phone to send a "HELP" message by text, email and voice mail to loved ones.

Tim Blackman, Miss Blackman's father, from the Isle of Wight, has offered the device free to under 18s through the Lucie Blackman Trust website.

Miss Blackman, 21, of Sevenoaks, Kent, was found dead near Tokyo in 2001. [more]
