Alceste, ‘the misanthrope”, is at war with the society around him, a world of glamour, celebrity and hypocrisy. He is also in love with Celimene, the beautiful but immoral icon of the age. Sex, scandal and intrigue combine against a background of rebellion and revolution, set to a soundtrack of music from the 60s, including songs made famous by such female singers as Cilla Black and Dusty Springfield.

Stag Theatre Company - Noises Off
The Stag Theatre Company was reformed from the Stag Theatre’s Pool of Talent, which was the resident amateur theatre company at the Stag Theatre in the 80’s. Five years ago we became a new separate company with an aim to put on artistically challenging productions within Sevenoaks. Recent productions include: Charley’s Aunt, A Chorus of Disapproval, You’re Good Man Charlie Brown, The Weekend, Tomfoolery, Godspell, A Bedroom Farce, Fiddler on the Roof (in collaboration with The Sevenoaks Entertainers) and Stepping Out.
Our latest venture is the fantastically funny ‘Noises Off’ by Michael Frayn. This is a farce with in a farce, with a breakneck pace and a rich gallery of characters that stampede in and out of doors. This brilliantly witty farce follows the on- and off-stage antics of a touring company as they stumble from dress rehearsal to disastrous last night of the sex comedy, Nothing On where voices rise and trousers fall. Everything that can go wrong does, as the cast desperately try to hang on to their lines, their performances and the furniture, resulting in a terrifying descent into chaos. Never missing a trick, it has as it’s first act a pastiche of traditional farce; as it’s second, a contemporary variant of the formula; as it’s third, an elaborate undermining of it all!!
Performances are at The Ship Theatre, Walthamstow Hall School, Holly Bush Lane, Sevenoaks. Wed 30 May – Sat 2 June (Matinee at 3pm) 8pm. Ticket price is £10: Box Office (07990) 592 737.

Rockdale Appeal
Rockdale AppealI am writing to draw your attention to the Heart of the Community competition taking place in the Sevenoaks Chronicle over the coming few weeks, and to ask if you would vote for Rockdale using the voting coupons that you will find in the next three issues of The Chronicle.
We are delighted that Rockdale has been shortlisted, and we hope to win £1,000 in order to buy a much-needed special lightweight mobile elevating lift. This is a wonderful piece of equipment which safely assists an elderly person who has fallen over to stand up again.
On average at Rockdale, there is an incident of an elderly person falling 3 or 4 times a week and instead of having to call an ambulance, this lift would help them keep their personal dignity and they could be helped up by the Support Workers whom they know well.
PLEASE VOTE FOR ROCKDALE by filling in the coupon and sending it off to the Chronicle. You can vote as many times as you wish. Ask your friends, neighbours and family to do likewise! Thank you for supporting Rockdale.
