Cantate choir & Vivace! 20th March 2010
St Nicholas’ church, Sevenoaks, 7.30pm; Conductor: Robin Walker
After the success of Handel’s ‘Messiah’ in March 2009 the Cantate chamber choir and Vivace! period instrument chamber orchestra again join forces for their largest project to date: Haydn’s ‘The Creation’. This oratorio, inspired by Handel’s great choral works, describes the creation of the world, charting the six days as described in the Old Testament, from chaos and darkness to order and the creation of Adam and Eve.
Cantate are joined again by one of the UK’s most popular and accomplished sopranos, Gillian Keith, prize-winning tenor Kevin Kyle, and for the first time by bass Gavin Horsley. Vivace! perform on period classic instruments, with strings and a wide array of wind and brass instruments.
You are invited to join us for an evening of extraordinary music - dramatic, intense and exquisitely beautiful. Haydn considered this work his finest – join us to hear why.
Tickets, priced at £12 including refreshments, are available in advance from Sevenoaks bookshop or from the box office: 01732 770570. www.cantate-choir.info
